What is egg donation?

Egg donation is a process in which a woman voluntarily is ready to donate her eggs to help another woman conceive a child. Being an egg donor, you can bring a ray of hope into a couple’s life to enable them to experience the joy of parenthood.

Who can donate eggs?

A woman who is in her reproductive years (23-32 years) is eligible to donate. Both married and unmarried women can donate oocytes.

What are the steps involved in the egg donation process?

At Sprouting Seed, the egg donation process has been made simple. Once you get in touch with us, the egg donation process works as follows:

1. Egg Donor Screening
To ensure that our donors are healthy, they go through physical and medical screening, i.e. testing for infectious diseases, drug use, and general health. Our expert team will also perform a transvaginal sonography (TVS) to evaluate the egg donor’s ovarian reserve (egg supply).

2. Controlled Ovarian Stimulation & Egg Retrieval
The donor takes hormone injections for about 10-14 days to help the ovaries produce multiple eggs. The clinic monitors progress with ultrasounds and blood tests.A day or two before the eggs are ready, the donor receives a final hormone injection. Then, about 34-36 hours later, a minor procedure is done to collect the eggs using a needle guided by ultrasound. The donor is sedated and may have mild discomfort afterward.

The donor has to take certain hormonal injections for about 10 days which help the ovaries produce multiple eggs. She has to undergo blood tests and ultrasounds to make sure she is healthy for egg donation.

3. Recovery
Once the eggs are retrieved, you will be monitored for a few hours before being discharged. You may experience some discomfort for a few days post-retrieval, but you can resume all regular activities the next day.
